Any label you will recognize later: your name, a nickname, or someone you are reading for. It only titles the chart; it never changes the sky math.

The calendar day you (or they) were born, in the local calendar of the birth place. Use the real civil date, not the hospital discharge date if those differ. If your phone's date picker is awkward to scroll back to a birth year, do not fight it: cast with what you have, then reopen the chart from Saved Charts and correct the date without retyping the rest.

As exact as you can get it: hospital record, birth certificate, or a family note. Rising sign, houses, and the Moon's degree all move with the minute. No time? Enter 12:00 noon so the rest of the chart still casts, or use Don't know your rising sign? Take the quiz for a working estimate, then refine later with Rectify.

Type the city (and country if the name is common), then press Find. Asteria fills latitude, longitude, and usually the timezone. If lookup fails, enter coordinates by hand: latitude positive north, longitude positive east.

Must match the clock on the birth record for that place and date, including historical daylight saving. City search usually sets this; double-check if you were born near a DST change or in a region that has since renamed its zone.

Placidus is the modern Western default and what most people expect. Whole Sign is traditional Hellenistic and Vedic. Equal is the simplest quadrant alternative. Koch, Regiomontanus, and Porphyry are other quadrant systems. Switch only if you already know which tradition you read in.

Tropical is Western astrology, locked to the equinoxes and seasons. Sidereal (Lahiri) is Vedic, locked to the fixed stars. Pick the system your reader or tradition uses; the planets change signs between the two.

Optional. Adds Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta for nurture, strategy, partnership, and devotion. Leave off for a cleaner first read; turn on when you want the fuller map.
